Evidence-Based Assessment Modules

From ASHA's Clinical Research, Implementation Science, and Evidence-Based Practice (CRISP) Committee

These modules, developed by ASHA’s CRISP Committee, provide comprehensive training on Evidence-Based Assessment in speech-language pathology and audiology. Each module features detailed guides, engaging slides, recorded presentations, practical activities with answer keys, and resource handouts to support effective learning. Together, they cover key topics such as the importance of evidence-based assessment, types and purposes of assessment, test validity, bias mitigation, and decision-making processes to enhance clinical practice.

About the Author

ASHA’s Committee on Clinical Research, Implementation Science, and Evidence-Based Practice (CRISP) monitors trends and issues regarding clinical practice research, implementation science, knowledge translation, and evidence-based practice in communication sciences and disorders (CSD); monitors the challenges and opportunities to enhance and expand clinical practice research, implementation science, knowledge translation, and evidence-based practice in CSD; generates reports to inform strategic planning efforts and otherwise advising the Association—including staff, members, committees, boards, and councils—regarding matters pertaining to clinical practice research, implementation science, knowledge translation, and evidence-based practice in CSD; and provides guidance about resources and programs that ASHA could develop or enhance to facilitate the advancement of clinical practice research, implementation science, knowledge translation, and evidence-based practice in CSD.
